A little vintage Santa

It's Tuesday and my day to share my Design Team card I made for Try Stampin' on Tuesday

This week is Sketch #97 (see sketch below)

I decided to use some scrap pattern paper from a previous project.
The colors were just screaming VINTAGE and I had the prefect vintage Santa image to use.

I started with a light tan A2 card
Layering olive paper on top of card, which I had distressed with an olive ink pad

Pattern paper from Carta Bella - Christmas Day, which is a double sided cardstock
I cut a banner for the striped side and cut a scalloped edge for the polka dot side

Stamp the vintage Santa image from Close to My Heart in Vineyard Berry ink onto light tan paper
Punch out the Santa image with 1-3/4" circle punch
Punch out a 2" circle from olive paper

I then stamped the Joy sentiment from My Favorite Things in Olive ink onto Olive paper
Punch the sentiment out using a 1" circle punch
I also cut the oblong image from Cricut - Elegant Edges page 27 at 3"

Layer all these pieces together as shown in the photo

I finished the card by adding Olive ribbon and tan adhesive pearls to the card.

Sketch #97

Please join us this week for our Sketch Challenge at Try Stampin' on Tuesday

Glory to God...

and may your day be filled with joy!

Happy Day - it's Friday and my day to share for Digi Haven
Our new fortnight challenge - Wreaths and/or Ornaments starts today.

For my card, I used an image I found at Homeberries,
This site is filled with embroidery patterns, but they work great for cards too!
I really like the rustic, folk art feel to this image.
The ribbons around the star reminded me of a wreath, so that is what it is for this card.
I ended up making a long card, which I love to make and do often
And I used non-traditional colors for Christmas too.

Enjoy!

Paper from my stash of Close to My Heart papers.
The striped paper, scrap from my stash.
Colored the image with Copic markers, B00, B02, G00, G02, C-1
Finishing touches:  added pink ribbon, bow and adhesive pearls in blue and pink

Make sure to check out the Design Team inspiration HERE
I know you are busy, but take time to relax and create something wonderful.
I can't wait to see what you have to share with us.

I am also entering this card into the following challenges:

Believe in the Magic of...

...Christmas!

With Tuesday, it brings my posting day at Try Stampin' on Tuesday
As well as a new sketch for you to try, Sketch #96, which you can see below.

Here is my card I made inspired by the sketch...
I decided to curve the sentiment banner away from the card before attaching with the brads.

Also, a little oops turned into a good thing...
The dye from the Outdoor Denim paper transferred onto the white embossed snowflakes.
There was no way for me to remove the color, so I ended up rubbing the paper over the snowflakes.
It added just the right amount of color and I really love the way the card turned out.

I hope you like it too!

Outdoor Denim and pattern paper both from my stash of old Close to My Heart papers
White cardstock was embossed with Cuttlebug embossing folder - Snowflakes
Sentiment from My Favorite Things - Seasonal Sentiments, which you can find HERE
Small sentiment - "believe" from Close to My Heart inked with Outdoor Denim
Star was cut with Cricut cartridge "George and Basic Shapes", page 115 <star1> at 1-1/2" and 1"
For finishing touches I  added Outdoor Denim brads, ribbon and attached the star with a safety pin

The Design Team has some really wonderful cards that you can see HERE
I really hope you can join us this week for our Sketch #96 Challenge

Sunshine Blogger Award

On Thanksgiving morning, I was up early having a cup of coffee.  My hubby and I spent the night at "My daddy's house", which is so hard for me, as I used to say "My parent's house", as my mother unexpectedly passed away on Mother's Day.  It's different and sad now that she is gone.

I was sitting at the kitchen counter, on the same stool my mother always sat in, drinking my coffee and checking my email.  I received an email from Sandra at Crea Sandra a follow DT member at Digi Haven and blog friend.  Don't you just love how we have friends, that we have never met, but have gotten to know and love through the crazy world of blogging and our shared passion for papercrafts.  Anyway, Sandra had passed along the Sunshine Blogger Award to me and 9 others.

Thank so much Sandra - you gave me a bit of sunshine, warmth and a smile that morning.
