Something Old for Digi Haven

Today begins a new fortnight challenge at Digi Haven

Our theme is for this challenge...
SOMETHING OLD
The Design Team had fun playing with the toy images from our sponsor - Floppy Latte
You can find them under this section - All Things for Babies/Children

My Design Team card for this challenge is this moving parts card...
I have to admit that I have been making this type of card for at least 20 years
I just don't know what they call it now days... back in the day, I don't even know if it had a name?
Maybe someone can enlighten me!

I made a BABY BOY card
If you pull on the right hand side of the card, the message swings up from the inside

The is a very easy card to make and a lot of FUN to give to someone too!
Let me know if you would be interested in a tutorial

8 x 8 paper pad by October Afternoon - Farmhouse
I printed the images onto a Vanilla cardstock and used Parchment ink to cover the images
This came out really nice and evenly colored - it photographed a little more pink than it really is
I added a bit of color to the images using my Copic markers in BG34, E71, R22, Y17
The images are cut out and layered for depth
I finished the card with patterned paper on the ends, a button and ribbon

I hope you enjoyed my card today - make sure to check out the rest of the Design Teams cards
A whole lot of wonderful creations, inspiration and sharing going on
I invite you to play along with us this challenge - we have two sponsors

Floppy Latte ($6 gift certificate)
Fitztown will also be sponsoring a prize of 3 digi images from their new store

Thanks for stopping by today - Catch the Frenzy! - Karen

I will also be entering this card into the following challenges:

Sea Life Challenge with Digi Haven

Today brings a new fortnight challenge at DIGI HAVEN
Our theme for this challenge is...

SEA LIFE

I chose Miss Beauty to work with for this challenge from Our Sponsor...Digi Stamps 4 Joy

My card is a 6 x 6 card

I colored the image using my Copic markers in the following colors: Y02, Y04, YR20, Y11

Designer paper from Little Yellow Bicycle - 6 x 6 pad - SPLASH

I used Cricut cartridge - Elegant Edges to cut my circle at 5"
(sorry not at home, posting from my dad's house, so I can't tell you which page and image)

Sentiment from Birdie Brown (NOTE: freebie from July, also a Dolphin - still up on the blog)

I was inspired by the little shell, sequin, bead mix I had in my stash
I so wanted to make a shaker card - the shells were a little to big to be a part of the shaking mix
I also had a bit of trouble with the idea in my head, translating to paper
So frustrating when that happens, but it's all GOOD now :)
I hope you like my finished card

I invite you to join us for this challenge

Have FUN with this one - so many wonderful Sea Life digital images to use

Technique Time Tuesday - Smackin' Acetate

It's the first Tuesday of the month, which means a new technique challenge at...

This month is my turn to host the challenge - the Technique I chose is called...

SMACKIN' ACETATE
Make sure to check out the TUTORIAL video on the blog,
as well as the wonderful creations by the rest of the Design Team

Here's my card...

Ink colors used are Dutch Blue, Watermelon, Hydrangea from Close to My Heart
All papers are from my stash of scraps
Stamps: from my old collection of Close to My Heart - Treasured Life D1306

I experimented with using glossy cardstock, which gave me more movement with the water/ink
This resulted in more coverage on the paper and a great blended look once the paper was dry
I think this technique is really fun and can give you a varied look with the type of paper you use

And here is a second card I made...

Ink colors used are Sunny Yellow, Sunflower, Orange from Close to My Heart
All papers are from my stash of scraps
Stamps: from my old collection of Close to My Heart - Beware D1381

Now it's your turn to play around with the SMACKIN' ACETATE technique
REMEMBER to watch the TUTORIAL and check out the INSPIRATION from the Design Team
Don't be afraid to try different color combinations and types of paper
Have FUN with it - I look forward to seeing what you come up with

Thanks for stopping by today...
